Ptarmigan Hunting

Harold and I decided to go ptarmigan hunting.  But first we needed to put a new chain and sprocket on his snowmobile.  Here he is tightening the bolts on the exhaust.

When we finished working on the machine we went out cruising on the tundra and shot one bird.

Heartbreaking News

We told Harold at dinner last night that there wasn't enough snow for
snowmobiling and that he would have to be done for the year.

The very first thing he did was cry a heartbroken cry,
but I didn't grab the camera fast enough.
It was tough news for a little boy to take.

Crash

There were a few new roads built in Brevig this summer. The new roads have big metal guard rails just like you would see on a modern highway. There is really no need for them here, but I suppose it is some kind of federal traffic safety standard that says you have to have them.

Harold wishes that we didn't have the guard rails too. We now have a big crack to fix in his hood.

Fall

It's that time of year,

Time to go out and retrieve your snowmobile from wherever you left it when the ice melted in the spring.
